Amy Winehouse 1983 - 2011

Amy Winehouse achieved international fame and five Grammy Awards with her 2006 album "Back To Black"

The album includes the single "Rehab" named as the best song of 2007, a song which always had some significance and now has a particular poignancy. Her debut album "Frank" was nominated for a Mercury Prize in 2003, she won the Ivor Novello Award three times and the 2007 Brit Award for Best British Female Artist.
There is no doubt that Amy Winehouse had considerable talent. Her voice was instantly recognisable, her style a mix of soul, jazz and rock. Her music was, at once, painful, defiant, funny. She was a feisty, highly independent woman, but sadly she was unable to cope with fame. Amy had so much more to give and so much more to achieve and her tragic death at such an young age is an immeasurable loss to her family, her friends, her fans and the music world.
