Pete Doherty apologises

Pete Doherty has issued an apology to anyone who he offended after performing the German national anthem, in which he sang a verse that is no longer used due to its Nazi connotations. The first verse of the anthem was removed after the Second World War.

The Babyshambles singer was escorted off the stage at the concert in Germany, after boos from fans, a radio station who were also broadcasting the event live stopped their transmission.

Doherty has stated that he was unaware that the first verse was offensive, and as he is off Jewish descent the last thing he'd want to do would be to upset anyone.
