Bowie's Brilliant Album "The Next Day"

At the age of 66 David Bowie is back – but this is no mediocre last gasp affair – this is diamond bright Bowie and just to prove it "The Next Day" his first album for 20 years is right there at the top of the charts and the fastest selling album so far this year.

David Bowie first rocketed onto the scene in 1969 with "Space Oddity" and three years later he was back with "Starman" this time as his alter ego Ziggy Stardust. This marked the beginning of a hugely successful career spanning more than 40 years. The fascinating thing about Bowie is that he is constantly re-inventing himself and his style – there's always a surprise, he never stagnates. His music is a kaleidoscope of colour, imagination and artistry.

So what about the album "The Next Day"? It is a challenging, vibrant, superbly arranged and produced album. Stand alone tracks are probably "Dirty Boys", "Stars Are Out Tonight" and my personal favourite "Where Are We Now"
There is always a surprise with David Bowie, No one in the music world anticipated this album and it was just as much a surprise to those involved in the exhibition at the V. and A. in London. The exhibition "David Bowie is" runs from 23rd March until 11th August and explores the career of Bowie and his influence on music, film, fashion and art.

The labels "legend" and "icon" are often attached to those who least deserve them, but whether or not you are a devotee and admirer of the music and  talents of David Bowie, this is an album worthy of any collection, the legendary and iconic singer, songwriter, producer and actor does not disappoint.
