Fifty Years of Spectacular Stones

The first of five gigs by the Rolling Stones  to celebrate 50 years kicked off at the O2 Arena in London and what a gig it was. The "old men of rock" proved they are still arguably the greatest ever rock band.

Jagger, Wyman, Wood, Watts, Richards and guest Mick Taylor gave a performance which amazed, delighted and wowed the audience. During the two and a half hour show they played 23 numbers with the vitality, energy and enthusiasm of performers half their age.

"The Rolling Stones still have it...!"

The opening number "I Want to be your Man" resounded through the arena and 20,000 fans enthusiastically agreed – Mick Jagger was their man. The repertoire included most of the oldies such as "Honky Tonk Women", "Get Off My Cloud" and their new single "Doom and Gloom".

"The Rolling Stones came back with a bang...!"

There has been some criticism about pricey tickets and greed and old men in bandanas but there is no doubt that the Rolling Stones still have what it takes to captivate and excite and to put on a show which did not disappoint and for which the fans were more than happy to pay the price.

Not all Stones fans could be at the live gig but their latest album "GRRR!" features 3 discs and 50 tracks, a compilation which celebrates the very best of the Rolling Stones.
