Radio 1’s Big Weekend is the UK’s biggest free entry music festival, with 40,000 tickets available across two days. Each year the event moves to a different part of the UK

this year setting it’s sights on Bangor in North Wales.
Four stages; the Main Stage, In New Music We Trust , BBC Introducing and Outdoor Stage, will host an array of artists and DJs. The

Tickets will be available through a registration process on the Radio 1 Website and a ballot will then take place, details to be announced shortly.

About the Download Festival
This year the Download Festival marks 30 years of Donington rock history, formally known as The Monsters of Rock festival, which throughout the 80s propelled many of the bands to rock stardom, including the likes of Def Leppard, Guns n’ Roses and ZZ Top.
The festival took a break in 1996 for seven years and came back in 2003 as the Download Festival. This year rockers AC/DC make a return, it will be the fourth time they’ll grace the festival since they first appeared as headliners in 1981.

About the Isle of Wight Festival
Originally running from 1968-1970 and re-born in 2002, the Isle of Wight Festival is held at Seaclose park, close to Newport.

About the Glastonbury Festival
This year marks the 40th birthday of the biggest green field festival in the world, Glastonbury located on Worthy farm, attracts over 170,000 festival goers and spans across 900 acres. The first festival in Glastonbury that featured contemporary music performances was in 1970, in 1980 farm owner Michael Eavis took over the festival, hosting it annually on his farm (with breaks every 5 years to allow the land to regenerate). Michael still helps to run the event today with the help of his daughter and the company Festival Republic. This year Glasto will be broadcast by the BBC across the world.

About Wireless Festival
Hyde Park in London plays host to the wireless Festival at the beginning of July, the event does not have camping facilities, but the huge transport network in and around London provides easy access for all festival goers.
Created in 2005 the event has seen an abundance of stars take to the stages, including Morrissey, Keane and Basement Jaxx. This year it has been confirmed that Pink and Jay-Z will headline the event, with The Ting Tings, Lily Allen and Gossip, to name just a few, also set to perform.

About Oxegen Festival
Dubbed as Europe’s favourite rock n roll weekend the Oxegen Festival enters its sixth year, located in Punchestown, Co. Kildare the event has seen plenty of world class performances from the Likes of The Who and Kings of Leon.
The festival is credited for being Ireland’s biggest Carbon Neutral event, which means that all the carbon emissions created over the weekend are offset.

About T in The Park
Since it first kicked off in Strathclyde Park in 1994, now located in Balado Park T In The Park has played host to over a thousand performers, from the likes of Red Hot Chilli Peppers to The Who and Foo Fighters to Oasis.
This year 80,000 festival goers will see over 180 artists, gracing 11 stages Muse, Kasabian and Eminem have been confirmed as the headliners, with other acts such as The Prodigy the Black Eyed Peas and Florence & The Machine performing over the weekend.
The festival organisers consider the environment high on their agenda with T In The Park only one of two CarbonNeutral events in the UK, using many methods to reduce their environmental impact, such as low energy light bulbs and providing recycling points across the park.

Underage is the World’s first credible festival for music fans aged under 19. About V Festival
V festival began in 1996 after Pulp signer Jarvis Cocker had a vision of performing at a festival in two different locations on consecutive days. With the partnering of two venues artists from the line up perform at one location on one day and then swap locations the following day.
Hylands Park in Chelmsford is one of the original sites but it wasn’t until 1999 that Weston Park in Staffordshire became home to V. The festival hosts four main stages; Vstage, 4 music, The Arena and Union, each of which will see an array of acts perform.
Tickets for this year’s V Festival went on general sale at 9am on 5th March and sold out in a record breaking one and a half hours.

About Reading and Leeds
The Reading leg of the festival started in 1961 as the national jazz festival, it wasn’t until 1999 the festival grew and a second location, Leeds was added. Over the years the weekend has played host to an abundance of world class artists, from the likes of the Stone Roses to 50 Cent and to add to its history, Reading is also the last place in the UK that saw a performance from Nirvana.
Hundreds of acts will this year grace the seven stages at each site, with 80,000 Reading festival goers and 70,000 at Leeds gathering for a weekend of ultimate music madness.
